Design4
- You should be as autonomous as possible in the fourth year, capable of using English in your research as and when you need it. If you want extra help with writing letters or CVs, translating portfolios, making applications for internships, jobs, requesting samples from manufacturers or simply want to chat, please get in touch directly or via email.
- There are two main tasks for everyone to do this year...
- Write a progress report on your dissertation (mémoire) and also on how your own research is going for the final project next year. You will work on many different themes over the next two years so if you have no idea yet of what you want to develop specifically for the fifth year diploma, write up one or two of the imposed design projects. You should also prepare a short talk about this based on ten slides - a bit like a mini PechaKucha.
- Send me an internship report via email during your work experience period plus a written final report at the end of your internship.
- During the year, depending on time available and health measures in force, ask to join short workshops in writing CVs and applying for jobs, residencies or grants. You are welcome to join other years for sessions on building web sites, exploiting electronic sensors to add interactivity to products (using Arduino, Processing), LED arrays, lighting, colour theory etc. Stay tuned for news or simply contact me if interested.
- Take a look here for plenty of guidance and examples on how to write an abstract in English for your dissertation.
- And while we are on the subject of formal or academic English, I would like you to meet Professor Pootwattle who is here to help you find a suitable subject for your dissertation.
